Students and teachers share a giant birthday cake at Ningbo University in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on Thursday. Measuring 8 meters long and 1.6 meters wide and weighing nearly 1 metric ton, the cake was prepared by campus catering staff in three to four hours and served about 5,000 to 6,000 people. The event marked the 40th anniversary of the university's founding. ZHANG PEIJIAN/FOR CHINA DAILY
