Cui Zhe wins gold with record lift at Asian Para Games
Her successful lift brought a surge of excitement. "I may look rather delicate on the outside, but my strength comes from within," she said.
Cui credited Sun with helping her adopt a more relaxed approach to training and competition. Since she began working with her coach, she has felt less pressure and become more willing to push her limits during training.
Her performance has steadily improved since 2021, which she attributed to adjustments in training intensity, her daily routine and a more relaxed training atmosphere.
"In the past, I was particularly concerned about whether I could win the championship. I rarely took risks with the weights I attempted," Cui said. "Now that I have stopped focusing so much on rankings, I feel freer to perform."
The victory extended Cui's remarkable record to five consecutive Asian Para Games titles. She said she hoped to maintain her winning form in future competitions.
