Wuhan's Tanhualin historic quarter is combining heritage conservation with cultural and commercial revival, as visitor numbers and businesses surge in one of the city's oldest neighborhoods.

Located in Wuchang district, Tanhualin drew 12.18 million visits in 2025, according to its operator. Conservation work began in 2005, with historic buildings and public spaces gradually restored for cultural and commercial activities.
