From warm Ramadan gatherings at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt to the quiet rhythm of daily lab work at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, 28-year-old Doha Fares has traveled 7,000 kilometers to build a life in China, a country her father describes as "friendly and lovely". What began as a connection passed down from an older generation has deepened into a bond with what she now considers a second home.
