State Council forms team to investigate reservoir breach in Guangxi

The State Council has established an investigation and assessment team to examine the Liulan Reservoir breach in Hengzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, with the team holding its first full meeting on Friday in Nanning to review the disaster, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Liulan Reservoir sustained structural damage and breached on July 6, resulting in significant casualties.

In accordance with national laws and regulations, the State Council established the special team, led by the Ministry of Emergency Management and comprising representatives from central government departments and the Guangxi regional government, to conduct a comprehensive investigation and assessment of the incident, according to the report.

Following national emergency investigation procedures, the team will carry out a rigorous, fact-based assessment of the disaster's causes, losses, and related responsibilities.
