Enhancing safety with tidy freight yards
The country's railway operators have intensified efforts to clean up freight yards in a bid to safeguard efficient and safe freight services. The Taiyuan Railway Logistics Center under China Railway Taiyuan Group launched a special rectification action at its Pingyao business department, investigating and rectifying any safety hazards. It organized a special team to clear away any leftover building materials, debris, garbage and weeds, while also repairing damaged enclosures and handling the illegal occupation of roads. Vehicle parking and anti-dust control measures were also improved to smooth freight transport in a clean and orderly way.
Yuan strengthens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 42 pips to 6.8067 against the US dollar on Wednesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
