The Road to the Goal
The world, to Wang Maomao, has always been a soccer field. Growing up in Zhidan on the Loess Plateau, she learned that the perfect shot is earned through countless hours of practice. In 2014, during a youth tournament in Wolfsburg, Germany, a very special spectator watched her team play and told them, “I believe in your generation.” That moment became Maomao’s true north. It pulled her from the dusty pitch to university, and then back to her hometown—not as a player, but as a coach. This documentary captures how the girl who once ran up those hills now leads her students along the same mountain trails, teaching them footwork, tactics, and the unbreakable will to fight. It is a moving portrait of how a single seed of encouragement, planted on a rugged field, can grow into a boundless pitch of hope where the next generation learns to take their shot.
