Senior political adviser Wang Xiaodong placed under investigation
Wang Xiaodong, a senior national political adviser, is under investigation for suspected severe violations of Party discipline and national laws, China's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Sunday.
The announcement was published online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. No further details were released.
Public records show that Wang, 66, a native of Jiangxi province, joined the CPC in January 1983 and began his career as a researcher on agricultural policies later that year.
After working in his hometown for several years, he was transferred to Guizhou province in October 1993, where he held various positions in the provincial Party committee, including Party chief of Guiyang, the provincial capital.
At the end of 2011, he was transferred to Hubei province and soon became vice-governor. In January 2017, he was appointed governor of the province.
In June 2021, he became deputy head of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs under the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body.
