English football legend Michael Owen to headline Yuechao in Guangzhou
English legendary player Michael Owen is set to make an appearance at Yuexiushan Stadium in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, on Sunday, for a third-round match of the Guangdong City Football Super League.
Owen will not only meet his Chinese fans but will also perform the ceremonial kickoff for the match between the Guangzhou and Maoming teams, amid great fanfare.
The English legend will arrive at the stadium driving a Hyptec S600, a new luxury intelligent sports SUV developed by local automobile manufacturer GAC Group, according to the company's Hyptec and Aion business unit, a strategic partner of the soccer league.
The soccer league, or Yuechao, is a new soccer tournament spanning 21 cities across Guangdong and has drawn strong interest among fans and growing commercial attention from businesses.
The tournament has attracted over 800 non-professional players and nearly 200 coaches from diverse backgrounds, including university students, freelancers, members of soccer clubs or youth training institutions, and corporate employees.
