For just 6 yuan (88 cents), you can spend two hours crossing Wuhan aboard a vintage green train — and right now, the tickets are selling faster than hot mianwo (crispy rice fritters).

The retro rail service, which began running in mid-March, sells out almost immediately each time new tickets drop on China's 12306 booking platform. More than 260,000 passenger visits have been recorded, and demand has forced operators to more than double the train's length, from seven carriages to 16.

The circular route threads through all three of Wuhan's historic districts, passing beneath the Yellow Crane Tower, across the Yangtze River Bridge, and alongside East Lake, offering views that buses and subways simply can't match.
