1 dead after crane collapses at Hong Kong construction site

HONG KONG -- A construction crane collapsed at a building site in Hong Kong, on Thursday afternoon, leaving one worker dead with no other casualties reported, Hong Kong police confirmed to Xinhua.
Police received a report at 4:27 pm about a crane suddenly toppling over at a worksite near Pik Kwai House, Kwai Chung. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed a male operator, aged around 60, was certified dead on site.
Local media reported that the collapse sent clouds of sand and debris flying, with fragments striking a light goods vehicle traveling on the road. The driver was unhurt.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
