Former senior official expelled from CPC for serious violations
Li Chunliang, a former deputy director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China, according to a statement by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission released on Monday.
The statement said Li resisted organizational scrutiny, entered private clubs, and failed to report personal matters as required. He sought benefits for others during cadre selection and appointments and leveraged his position to assist others in business operations, project contracting and administrative approvals, accepting large sums of money and goods in return. He also borrowed funds from management and service targets and accepted renovation services from them.
Li seriously violated the Party's political, organizational and integrity disciplines, constituting serious duty-related violations and is suspected of bribery, the statement added. His case and illegal gains will be handed over to the procuratorial organs for legal review and prosecution.
Li, 62, a native of Hebei province, joined the Party in 1984. From 1997 to 2016, he worked in the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and served as the deputy head of the organizational department of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee. In 2016, he served as deputy director of the National Forestry Administration, and the deputy director of its successor department National Forestry and Grassland Administration in 2018. In December 2023, he was appointed the head of the China Wildlife Conservation Association.
Li was placed under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation in May of this year.
