Lesotho's textile industry faces massive closures amid US levies

Lesotho's textiles sector was heavily dependent upon the US market with some 75 percent of its product going to the US. However, in April, the US announced a 50 percent tariff on imports from Lesotho, the highest among all countries. Many importers then canceled orders of Lesotho-produced textiles, leading to mass layoffs.
