Shanghai's Yangpu district inaugurated a network content creator hub on Thursday, establishing a professional space aimed at fostering high-quality online content production.

The newly launched facility, located in the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), features professional photography studios, recording rooms and comprehensive workspace solutions including office areas, training facilities, and livestreaming capabilities.

The launch follows Shanghai's recent introduction of a citywide policy package on July 15, which introduced nine measures to attract global content creators and bolster high-quality internet content creation through various incentives and support mechanisms.

At the opening ceremony, 18 supporting measures were unveiled across six categories: rent exemptions, rewards, services, investment, subsidies, and management.

Under this framework, content creators joining the hub will receive full exemption from rent and property management fees in their first year, with 75 percent and 50 percent reductions in the two subsequent years.

"Yangpu district leverages its unique advantages in having both universities and major tech companies, as well as its strong digital economy and technological innovation resources," said Ni Bing, executive deputy district head of Yangpu. "Our policies are designed to complement the city's initiatives while addressing specific local needs."

The district's incentives include content creation awards up to 100,000 yuan ($13,927) for quality content promoting Shanghai and Yangpu stories, and housing subsidies up to 2 million yuan for qualified creators purchasing their first home in the district.
