Villagers come together to prepare meals for rescue workers

While rescuers tirelessly combat floods to protect lives and property in Rongjiang county, Guizhou province, locals have also come together to provide fruits, vegetables, and hot meals to show their gratitude, CCTV News reported.
Rongjiang has been battered by torrential rains and rising rivers since Tuesday. As of Thursday, 41 teams comprising more than 3,100 people had arrived from outside the county to support rescue operations.
In Langdong township, at 6:30 am, over 50 villagers gathered to prepare meals. By 10:30 am, 1,000 boxed meals were ready.
"Rescuers have come to our county to help us. Therefore, we want to do our part," a villager said.
In Zhongcheng township, villagers prepared 3,000 boxed meals in a single day for rescuers who were working around the clock to fight against floods.
A steamed bun shop owner worked through the night, delivering 2,000 steamed buns to rescue teams.
"I didn't sleep just one night. But rescuers haven't slept for several days," she said.
