China's Wang Xinyu beaten by Vondrousova at WTA Berlin Open final

        BERLIN -- China's Wang Xinyu lost to Czech Republic's Marketa Vondrousova 6-7 (10), 6-4, 2-6 in the WTA 500 Berlin Open final.
Wang reached her first grass-court final by beating Liudmila Samsonova 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinal to meet the 2023 Wimbledon Open champion Vondrousova in the final. The Czech defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to advance to the final.
Wang took a 6-2 lead in the tiebreak of the first set, but was turned around by her opponent. Despite Wang getting back on level terms in the following set, Vondrousova delivered a strong play in the third set to seal the win.
