SCO Film Festival to kick off in Chongqing
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival 2025 will take place in Chongqing's Yongchuan district from July 3 to 7. This marks the festival's comeback to China after a seven-year break following its inaugural edition in Qingdao, Shandong province in 2018, according to a press conference held in the southwestern municipality on Monday.
Qin Zhengui, deputy director of the China Film Administration, said China will serve as the rotating chair country of the SCO from 2024 to 2025, during which period the SCO National Film Festival 2025 will be held.
As this year celebrates the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema, the festival aims to promote the SCO member states' civilizational values of equality, mutual learning, dialogue and inclusiveness through film, which is regarded as a universal artistic language, according to the organizing committee.
