460,000 tourists visit Hong Kong during Dragon Boat Festival

HONG KONG -- Around 460,000 visitor arrivals were recorded in Hong Kong during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival long weekend of the Chinese mainland (May 31 to June 2), representing a year-on-year increase of about 11 percent, according to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Tuesday.

Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR government Chan Kwok-ki said that the HKSAR government once again successfully promoted the integration of culture and tourism during this year's Dragon Boat Festival long weekend of the mainland, enabling both visitors and the general public to experience Hong Kong's unique festive atmosphere.

The Immigration Department of the HKSAR government recorded a total of around 460,000 inbound visitors to Hong Kong through various sea, land and air control points during the Dragon Boat Festival.

Among them, mainland visitors accounted for about 360,000, representing a year-on-year increase of about 10 percent and around 80 percent of the total arrivals; and the number of non-mainland visitors was around 94,000, representing a year-on-year increase of about 14 percent.
