Former Hainan official expelled from Party for suspected violations

Luo Zengbin, a former senior official of Hainan province under investigation for suspected disciplinary and legal violations, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and his positions, according to the country's top anti-graft agencies.
Luo is a former member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Haikou Municipal Committee. The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission investigated Luo in December 2024 due to accusations of serious breaches of discipline and law.
The investigation found several violations, including attending banquets that could influence his official duties and violating personnel appointment procedures. He was also found to have accepted gifts and bribes, interfered with licensing processes, and engaged in improper family conduct.
Thus, he was expelled from the Party and his positions. In addition, the ill-gotten gains from his violations will be confiscated, and his suspected criminal activities will be referred to the judiciary for further investigation.
