Chongqing's drone light shows drive tourist numbers


He noted that Nanbin Road, the venue for the displays, has reported high occupancy rates, with restaurants exceeding 70 percent and hotels surpassing 80 percent. Notably, the number of inbound foreign tourists staying overnight has seen a remarkable 608 percent year-on-year increase.
The show has employed a fleet of 5,000 state-of-the-art drones and formulated specific emergency plans for situations such as power failure of a single device. In addition, a specialized committee consisting of art experts was established to carry out visual designs, citing the facial makeup of Sichuan Opera showcased by drones in the sky which represents a technologically innovative interpretation of local culture.
"It's the first time I've seen a drone performance show. And I found the artistry of the face mask and the eagle," said William Glasgow from the Australian daily newspaper The Australian. He added that the dissolution of the formation created a beauty characterized by a sense of unstructured elegance, akin to stars gently cascading from the sky.
