China has seen more than 1.11 million cross-border trips made by foreigners during the May Day holiday, a 43.1 percent year-on-year increase, according to the National Immigration Administration.

Among inbound trips made by foreigners, 380,000 were visa-free, which is 72.7 percent higher than the same period the previous year, the administration said on Tuesday.

During the holiday, border inspection authorities across the country checked a total of 456,000 vehicles, marking an 18.1 percent year-on-year increase.

The authorities have also ensured safe, efficient and orderly cross-border trips during the holiday, the administration said.
