Statement from Juneyao airlines about crying child on a flight

Juneyao Airlines provided a statement clarifying the situation involving a crying child who was taken into an airplane bathroom by two strangers on Monday. According to the airline, the mother of the child has expressed understanding of the actions taken.
The incident occurred on Saturday aboard Flight HO2382, operated by Shanghai-based Juneyao Airlines, en route from Guiyang in Guizhou province to Shanghai. A video showing the two women taking the distressed child into the bathroom went viral on social media, sparking widespread debates and criticism of the women's actions.
Juneyao Airlines' statement detailed that the child, who was traveling with her grandparents, began crying during the flight, causing a disturbance to other passengers. With the grandmother's consent, the two women took the child to the bathroom in an effort to reduce the noise. The grandmother accompanied them and waited outside the bathroom.
The video clip showed the child crying and coughing as one of the women pointed at her, suggesting she would be allowed to leave the bathroom to see her grandmother if she stopped crying. The footage also captured the women using stern language, threatening to leave the child in the toilet if the crying persisted. This led to an online discussion about the appropriateness of such disciplinary measures and the need for more empathy towards children.
