Social media abuser detained in Guangzhou investigation


A woman who insulted and slandered Chinese national team athletes and coaches online has been detained for investigation in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, according to a statement released by the Panyu District Bureau of Public Security on Tuesday.
The woman surnamed Wang, 38, who lives in Guangzhou's Panyu district, was investigated to have repeatedly made abusive and defamatory remarks about Chinese national team athletes and coaches on multiple social media platforms since May, causing an adverse social impact, said the statement.
Wang's behavior has been suspected of disrupting online order and openly insulting and defaming others, it said.
