Ancient shipwrecks yield treasures in the South China Sea

Extensive sampling of submarine sediments, bottom seawater and marine organisms has also been carried out, providing data for environmental analysis and understanding the ecosystem surrounding the shipwreck sites.

Xin Lixue, director of the China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea, said the public will have the chance to view the cultural relics before the National Day holiday this year at the earliest. Additionally, the second phase of the museum, slated for completion in 2028, will be dedicated to showcasing the archaeological accomplishments related to the South China Sea.
