Nanjing's 'Love Bay' park offers romantic retreat for young people
Nanjing's first community park themed around "love" — the "Love Bay" Ecological Park — has opened in Jianye district for free as China's "Internet Lover's Day" approaches on Monday.
The park, spanning 15,000 sq meters, features a heart-shaped island with "Love Messenger" irises and water lilies. With 21 love-themed landscapes, the park aims to provide a romantic space for young people.
Jianye district government responded to the youth's desire for more romantic spots by creating this green, love-centered park, aiming to encourage young people to pause their busy lives, encounter romance and witness love in this space.
To provide leisure spaces for community residents, a citizen square has been set up on the east side of the park, a water-side walkway has been constructed on the island to the west and a sunny lawn has been developed on the high ground to the north. On the northern side of the "Love Bay", a 30,000 sq-meter lawn has been built to meet the camping needs of the public.
