New graduates called upon to serve at grassroots positions
The central government calls for new college graduates to serve at grassroots positions to help vitalize the nation's rural economy.
According to a new notice by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Finance, 34,400 new college graduates will be sponsored by the central government this year for grassroots positions concerning education, agriculture, healthcare and other vacancies benefiting the rural economy development.
Under the notice, the sponsored graduates will be transferred to rural areas or border areas with weaker economies. The nation has sponsored around 121,700 college graduates from 2021 to let them serve at grassroots positions.
The sponsored graduates usually have a two or three-year service period, with a monthly payment of about 2,000 yuan ($276) or 3,000 yuan — varying from area to area. They will enjoy privilege in postgraduate admission and preferential policies in employment or entrepreneurship after finishing the service period.
The nation launched the sponsorship campaign from 2006 with its aim of encouraging youths to work at grassroots or serving at rural areas with harsher environments, and make their contribution to the nation's rural development of education, healthcare and economy.
