Sweet melon farming contributes to rural revitalization


Sweet melon farmers began putting the plants in the greenhouse as early as the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year to ensure an early season of the melons and better profits in Zi county of Dezhou, East China's Shandong province.
According to Wei Youhai, who is in charge of the melon greenhouse in Sanhuihe village of the county, the melons can be harvested twice a year with a mu yield of 1,500 kilograms and 2,250 kilograms, respectively. The melon harvest earned 50,000 yuan in 2023 with other vegetables like cucumbers and beans planted alliteratively.
The county has been promoting local characteristic agriculture by planting different vegetables and fruits alliteratively to help the local residents make better profits and contribute to rural revitalization.
