Top legislator calls for deepening Sino-Russian cooperation and exchanges in multiple fields
Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, met with Alexander Babakov, deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma, in Beijing on Monday.
Zhao called on the legislative bodies of both countries to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen exchanges and cooperation at various levels and in multiple fields, provide legal support for practical cooperation between the two countries, and consolidate the foundation for the two countries' long-term friendship.
Babakov said the State Duma is willing to closely engage in friendly exchanges with the NPC and make active contributions to bilateral cooperation.
China, Nepal look forward to enhancing cooperation
Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body, met with Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha in Beijing on Monday.
Wang emphasized the need for both countries to strengthen political support, promote high-quality construction of the Belt and Road, and deepen people-to-people exchanges.
China is willing to work with Nepal to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and promote the building of a closer China-Nepal community with a shared future.
Shrestha said that Nepal firmly adheres to the one-China principle and looks forward to enhancing exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields.
Blackstone CEO willing to aid stable Sino-US relations
Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat, met with Stephen Schwarzman, chairman and CEO of global investment company Blackstone Group, in Beijing on Monday.
Cai said the China-United States relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world, and it is crucial to implement the consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden in San Francisco in November.
Cai expressed hope that Schwarzman will continue to strengthen his business in China and inject more positive energy into China-US relations.
Schwarzman said he is willing to contribute to the stable development of US-China relations and enable more people to understand the prospects of China's development.
Global CEOs express confidence in China market
Vice-President Han Zheng met separately with Darren Woods, chairman and CEO of leading energy company ExxonMobil, and Pascal Soriot, CEO of global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, in Beijing on Monday.
During his meeting with Woods, Han said that China will further expand high-level opening-up and support enterprises from various countries, including ExxonMobil, to achieve better development in China.
When meeting with Soriot, Han said that China will make continuous efforts to build a world-class, market-oriented business environment that is governed by a sound legal framework. He said that China welcomes enterprises from various countries, including those from the United Kingdom, where AstraZeneca is based, to invest and operate in China.
Woods and Soriot said they are optimistic about the vast opportunities in the Chinese market, will adhere to a long-term development strategy in China and continue to increase their investments in the country.
