Nation keen to deepen ties with DPRK
China's top political adviser Wang Huning highlighted on Thursday the nation's readiness to deepen unity, cooperation and strategic communication with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to jointly create a peaceful and stable external environment.
Wang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, made the remarks while meeting with a DPRK delegation led by Kim Song-nam, department director of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee.
Wang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed willingness to transform the important consensus reached by the leaders of both parties and countries into practical actions that promote the friendship between China and the DPRK.
This year, which marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, was designated as the Year of China-DPRK Friendship.
Wang also met with Conservative Party and Labour Party members of the British Parliament in Beijing. China attaches great importance to relations with the United Kingdom, and the nation welcomes more investment from British businesses, Wang said.
The UK delegation, which included David Lidington, president of the Great Britain-China Centre and former Minister for the Cabinet Office, was in China to attend the 12th China-UK Leadership Forum.
Cambodian king meets vice-president
Vice-President Han Zheng highlighted the enduring friendship and cooperation between China and Cambodia during a meeting with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk in Beijing on Thursday.
In his remarks, Han emphasized the strong bonds between the two nations as good neighbors, friends and partners, saying that ties between China and Cambodia have served as a model for equality and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries of different sizes.
He stressed China's readiness to work with Cambodia to implement the significant consensus reached between their leaders, aiming to achieve new progress in comprehensive strategic cooperation and deliver greater benefits to people of both countries.
King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Monineath expressed their gratitude for China's longstanding and selfless support to Cambodia.
They expressed a desire to join hands with China in building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
