A coal collapse on Monday in Shanxi province killed five and left two missing underground, according to China Central Television, whose report cited local authorities. Little other information was made available.
The incident occurred at a coal company in Zhongyang county at 10:45 pm. Seven miners were trapped. By early Tuesday, rescue teams had managed to locate five of the miners, who were all dead.
The search and rescue operation continues, with a focus on locating the other two missing miners.
