Nanjing Massacre survivor passes away, leaving only 36 living witnesses
With the passing of Chen Guixiang on Tuesday, the number of living witnesses of the Nanjing Massacre now stands at a mere 36 individuals, according to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders.
Chen, who passed away at the age of 99, demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of harrowing experiences. Following the establishment of the People's Republic of China, she pursued education and eventually became a respected figure in her village.
Throughout her life, she shared her tragic experiences at testimonial events. In 2011, she traveled to Hiroshima, Japan, to recount her story to the Japanese people, emphasizing the veracity of her account.
She stated, "My testimony remains as evidence, proving that I was indeed persecuted by the Japanese invaders in this way."
