All-China Women's Federation celebrates International Women's Day with award winners
Ahead of International Women's Day, which falls on March 8 , the All-China Women's Federation held a commemorative event on Sunday to honor this year's March 8 red-banner holders, pacesetters and collectives for their distinguished contributions and exemplary deeds.
"The award winners are outstanding representatives of the vast women's masses, who have made extraordinary achievements in all walks of life and scripted remarkable life stories," said Shen Yiqin, a state councilor and chairman of the federation, adding that they have set examples that we can learn from and aspire to.
Dong Jing, deputy head of the Sanxingdui Museum in Sichuan's Guanghan and a representative of the March 8 red-banner collectives, said that 70 percent of the staff members in the museum are women who have demonstrated their strength and hardworking spirits by carrying out tasks such as cultural relic restoration, curation and interpretation. She said that they will commit to further developing a top-tier cultural tourism destination and contributing to the establishment of a robust Chinese national community.
The federation organized a selection event of the March 8 red-banner holders, pacesetters and collectives for the first time in 1960, aiming at encouraging women to take an active part in social and economic development. This year, 10 individuals were honored with the title of March 8 red-banner pacesetter, 300 individuals were honored as March 8 red-banner holders and 200 groups were recognized as March 8 red-banner collectives.
