Youth Power: A New Year's Eve treat at the card table

Chinese New Year is here, and after that family dinner how about a game of "throwing eggs", what we call guandan? This is a very entertaining and highly competitive card game that has become very popular. In the latest episode of Youth Power, titled Igniting New Year's Eve: A Flavorful Twist Beyond the Dinner Table, Gen Zers from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United States meet their match over the card table as they learn all about guandan and as they strive to come out on top.

Guandan has its roots in Jiangsu province. It's a classic game that is not only entertaining, but educational, too, involving Chinese philosophy, teamwork and strategic thinking.

Youth Power, organized by China Daily, aims to build a global platform of communication and exchange, focusing on the interests and ideas of Generation Z.
