Safe power supply ensured despite weather hazards

As a sudden cold wave swept across many parts of the country last week, impacted areas have taken multiple measures to ensure a safe and stable power supply during the winter festive period.
The sudden drop in temperatures has led to freezing rain and malfunctions in certain power grid equipment.
"Roads and power poles are covered with a thick layer of ice, making it impossible for our repair personnel to climb onto the poles," said Dai Chengdi, an on-site repair staffer with the State Grid Suqian Power Supply Co.
In response to the challenging weather hazards, State Grid Suqian Power Supply Co in Suqian, Jiangsu province, has taken swift actions to ensure the stability of production and life during the cold wave.
"We have mobilized insulated bucket trucks, aerial work platforms and climbing tools to transport repair personnel to the fault locations, significantly accelerating the repair progress," Dai said.
It has also organized professional personnel to conduct inspections and maintenance work on the city's substations, transmission lines, and other equipment, said State Grid Suqian Power Supply Co.
To date, a total of 385 repair personnel and 122 vehicles have been deployed to cope with weather change. Intelligent inspection robots, drones and other cutting-edge devices have also been put into use for emergencies, the power supplier said.
