Distributed photovoltaics better leveraged

By the end of 2023, the installed capacity of distributed photovoltaics in Qihe county of Dezhou, Shandong province, reached up to 335,000 kilowatts, ranking fourth in Dezhou, with an average annual growth of 36.9 percent during the past three years, said State Grid Qihe Power Supply Co.
Against the backdrop of massive deployment, and the security and stability of distributed photovoltaics, the power supplier has ramped up efforts to facilitate energy transformation and the construction of new power systems by exploring new paths for the orderly and friendly development of distributed photovoltaics.
For example, in order to realize better peak shaving moves, it has conducted joint visits between government and enterprises for photovoltaic projects, promoting services such as equipment renovation for users. By the end of 2023, over 5,200 distributed photovoltaic users in the county have been incorporated into unified regulation of peak shaving.
In addition, the first domestic "5G+trusted WLAN" in one control terminal was also developed in Qihe to obtain real-time operation data and achieve the visibility and measurability of distributed photovoltaic in power dispatching.
The State Grid Qihe Power Supply Co has also promoted the “centralized convergence" construction model for distributed photovoltaics. The distributed photovoltaic of the entire region is integrated via the step-up convergence network and connected to the 10 kV power grid, and then coordinated and distributed in areas with high loads in the neighborhood.
As Qihe’s photovoltaic scale has been increased from "kilowatt level" to "megawatt level", the company carries out the construction of cloud energy storage, integrating low-voltage distributed energy storage into the cloud platform developed by aggregators for unified management.
In this way, photovoltaic power can not only be consumed through centralized charging on site, but can also participate in grid peak shaving by accepting scheduling instructions. The average distributed photovoltaic consumption capacity in the Qihe has increased by 50 percent without increasing the distribution transformer capacity.
