Planning conference aims to make mega cities more livable
The 6th Metropolitan Planning International Conference took place in Shanghai from Dec 3-4, with the goal of making cities more livable. The conference brought together experts and scholars from around the world to discuss the challenges and future of mega city development.
Attended by approximately 380 participants, including representatives from international organizations like UN agencies, as well as major cities such as New York and Seoul, the conference provided a platform for exchanging ideas and expertise. Topics such as urban planning, sustainable development and digital ecological civilization were discussed during the event.
During the conference, Feng Wenli, head of the China Land Surveying and Planning Institute, presented a speech on the transformation of land spatial planning in the digital era.
The conference also recognized the winners of the 2023 Shanghai Urban Design Challenge and announced the "City Design · Shanghai Initiative" and the "Metropolitan Research Network · Shanghai Initiative."
