Town in Hunan showcases Miao history and culture


Fenghuang Ancient Town, Hunan province, hosted a showcase from Thursday to Sunday to show off the clothing and silverware of the Miao ethnic group.
A total of 33 teams comprised of more than 1,000 people of the Miao ethic group from Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and Guizhou and Hunan provinces took part in the event.
They wore dazzling Miao clothes of different colors to walk through the ancient town of Fenghuang, while striking different poses.
They also sang local songs, performed dances and held banquets to show the Miao culture to visitors.
A photography exhibition featuring more than 4,000 photos of Fenghuang was also held to showcase the town's recent major transformation.
The photos, depicting local scenery and folk culture, attracted tourists and photography enthusiasts from all over the country.
