Beijing company fined for unlicensed subject training

A company in Beijing has been hit with a hefty administrative penalty of more than 17 million yuan ($2.32 million) due to its illegal establishment of a private school which failed to adhere to regulations regarding advance payment refunds, according to the city's market supervision authority.
The market supervision bureau of Beijing's Shunyi district conducted an extensive on-site inspection of Beijing Yousi Boxue Cultural Exchange Co recently. During the inspection, it was discovered that the company had been conducting subject training (like Chinese, math and English language) for primary and secondary schools without obtaining the related education license.
Further investigations also revealed that the company had failed to fulfill its contractual obligations by not providing the agreed-upon services to its customers. Moreover, when customers requested a refund, the company failed to return the balance of the advance payment in accordance with the deadline.
In response to these violations, the Shunyi district market supervision bureau imposed an administrative penalty of 17,464,183.87 yuan on the company. Additionally, the bureau has ordered the company to cease all activities related to running schools and temporarily halt the selling of prepaid cards.
