Law passes to strengthen patriotic education
A law to strengthen patriotic education was passed by the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, China's top legislature, on Tuesday when it wrapped up its latest session in Beijing.
The 40-article Patriotic Education Law, which will take effect on Jan 1, aims to promote the patriotic education in the new era by rule of law and is of great significance for uplifting the national spirit, gathering people's strength, advancing the construction of the power and enhancing the national rejuvenation.
While clarifying that every citizen should receive patriotic education, the law states that the education for children and teenagers needs to be highlighted in schools and families.
It also made more targeted educational measures for different groups of people, including government officials, employees, villagers and residents in Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan.
