Woman detained for faking five police reports to check on husband
A Chinese woman has been administratively detained for five days for frequently faking police reports to check on her husband.
The woman, surnamed Yan, is a native of Zhenping county in Henan province. She has been living in Xinjiang for an extended period of time, but she suspected her husband of having affairs at home.
On five occasions, Yan made false reports to police departments after consuming alcohol. She claimed that her husband was engaging in illicit sexual activities in Zhenping county.
Each time, police rushed to the scene to investigate, but they found no evidence to support Yan's claims. They also found no other violations.
On Sept 26, Yan returned from Xinjiang and was summoned by the public security bureau in Zhenping county for her illegal behavior.
During interrogation, Yan pleaded guilty. She was administratively detained for five days for disrupting social order by disseminating false information.
Local police reminded the public that misusing emergency services can impede the timely response to genuine emergencies and compromise the safety of the public.
