Donghua University launches textile training projects with Uzbekistan colleges
Donghua University (DHU) has signed cooperation agreements with three universities in Uzbekistan to conduct an international training program in textiles.
The cooperation with the three universities — Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, Namangan Institute of Textile Industry, University of Kyrgyzstan Light Industry — is part of Donghua's efforts to promote mutual learning along the Belt and Road.
The program will feature courses on textile materials, spinning and textile finish, disciplines that are crucial to the advancement and innovation of the textile industry, said the Chinese university.
The textile sector in Uzbekistan is a significant economic pillar thanks to its full industrial chain, plentiful cotton resources and favorable export policies. However, it also faces several challenges, including a lack of water and a relatively small production scale.
As a leading university in the global textile field, DHU actively carries out academic, industrial and educational exchange events with countries along the Belt and Road, especially Central Asian nations.
DHU will collaborate with more colleges and universities that have a focus on textiles to further the development of the textile discipline.
