Modern technology helps boost livestock farming in Inner Mongolia
Livestock farming has become an important source of local income in Otog Front Banner, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. In recent years, livestock farming in this region has ushered in a new era thanks to the introduction of modern technology.
"With the assistance of modern technology, I visit the barn every eleven or twelve days. Even in an emergency, I can rest assured and leave it for short periods. I can check the barn's condition anytime through technological upgrades and no longer need to worry about the loss of livestock. Modern technology makes livestock farming more convenient than before", said Jiya, a 59-year-old herder in Sulidi Gacha (a village-level administrative division), Angsu town, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
With technology-assisted agricultural projects being promoted, Jiya's 627-square-meter sheep barn has achieved automatic breeding. Automatic feeding, watering, disinfection, medication, humidification, air purification and feces treatment are available via a smart phone.
