Search continues for girl lost in Shanghai Nanhui Beach

Further investigations will be conducted to find the 4-year-old girl who was suspected to have disappeared into the waves on Shanghai Nanhui Beach, according to local police on Friday.
The young girl, surnamed Huang, was lost while playing 20 meters from the sea on Wednesday, where her father left her alone for over 10 minutes to get his mobile phone.
An intensive search was conducted from Wednesday to Thursday by the Pudong police and roughly 200 rescue personnel. Following the investigation, it was initially determined that Huang had not been taken from the beach.
Huang was found to have stayed where she was for about 10 minutes before walking to the water’s edge, falling in, and then vanishing into the waves, according to the surveillance images discovered later on Thursday.
Pudong police have worked with hydrological experts to examine the water current’s direction to carry out further searches.
The police call on anyone with any relevant information to contact them immediately.
