Yue kiln
Shangyu district in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, is known as the origin and a central production hub for the celebrated Yue kiln celadon, a style of ceramic glaze that also prevails in Ningbo and Hangzhou in Zhejiang.
Dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Shangyu's Yue kiln celadon uses local porcelain clay or porcelain stone as the raw material, and its production involves a complex set of procedures.
Featuring a gray interior and a celadon glaze in yellowish green or mineral green hues, the celadon adorns a wide array of porcelain products. With its rich history, remarkable craftsmanship and wide application, the Yue kiln celadon holds distinct cultural and artistic significance in the ceramic scene.
