CPC expels multiple individuals for law violations

Two high-level officials have been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from their posts for severe violations of the discipline and the law, the country's top anti-corruption watchdog announced on Wednesday.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission announced the decision of discipline for Cui Maohu and Jiang Zhigang.
The commissions said in a statement that Cui, former director of the National Religious Affairs Administration, abandoned his original aspiration and mission and did not firmly implement the central leadership's requirements.
Cui, also former deputy head of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, illegally occupied farmlands for political performance and fought against investigation, it said.
He accepted banquets, travels and other activities for a long time, and failed to report his personal matters in accordance with the Party disciplines, with illegal appointment of officials, it said.
In addition to illegally accepting gifts on his own, his family relatives were found to use his influence to coordinate and benefit from contracting projects, it said.
With exchanges including money, power and sex, he illegally interfered in judicial activities, and accepted huge amounts of assets in return after taking advantage of his positions to help others seek benefits in job promotion and project contracting, it added.
In another statement, the commissions pointed out similar disciplinary violations of Jiang, former Party chief of Yinchuan, capital of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
It said that Jiang was also discovered to have used his power to buy real estate for himself, his family and friends, with illegal aid for his family relatives in buying shares of private enterprises.
On Wednesday, the commissions also announced that Zheng Hong, former deputy head of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, had been expelled from the Party for serious violations of the discipline and the law.
Besides similar irregularities as Cui and Jiang, the commissions found that Zheng illegally accepted banquets and golf activities arranged by private companies, and used public funds to organize banquets.
