Dingxi prohibits public banners to improve urban environment

Dingxi, located in Gansu province, will enforce a prohibition on all banners in public facilities starting from Aug 10, with the aim of improving the urban environment, according to a recent statement released by the local housing and urban-rural development bureau.
The statement says that all banners, including commercial and public messages, will not be permitted on main roads, buildings, trees, traffic guardrails, overpasses, pedestrian bridges, street lights, public grassland, or other public facilities. Previously displayed banners must be cleared away before Tuesday. Remaining banners will be removed by the law enforcement department. Those who obstruct law enforcement in this matter will be held accountable by the public security and judicial organs.
For necessary work-related publicity, departments are encouraged to use electronic displays, news media, WeChat accounts, and community bulletin boards. Display boards that are used for public welfare publicity activities should be promptly removed once the activity is completed.
Relevant functional units and leading group offices at all levels should refrain from hanging advertising banners or mandating their subordinate departments to do so.
