Beijing's Mentougou district gives shelter to flood victims

Beijing's Mentougou district, which has experienced severe flooding during the recent round of heavy rainfall starting on Saturday, has set up many emergency shelters to provide temporary accommodations and meet the basic needs of affected residents.
In a shelter set up in Longquan Elementary School in Mentougou, the storage room on the ground floor is filled with emergency food — bread, bottled water and instant noodles — as well as bedding and folding beds, according to a report by Central China Television on Tuesday morning.
The school has assigned 10 classrooms for emergency use and 600 sets of emergency supplies, ensuring that displaced residents could be accommodated and provided with food for at least three days.

Li Xuemei, a Mentougou district staff member, said the school has received more than 60 households, consisting of around 130 people.
"We have prepared bottled water, instant noodles, bread, sausages and hot water for the residents. The supplies can support them for at least three days," she said.
In response to the heavy rain, Mentougou district has set up multiple emergency shelters, providing convenience for affected residents. It said that the majority of the affected residents in the urban area of Mentougou have been relocated to the shelters.
