Restaurant fined, punished for illegal performances
A fine of over 100,000 yuan ($14,000) and the revocation of licensure for commercial performances were handed down to the Taigutaigu restaurant in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, according to a notice posted on the official account of Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism on Wednesday.
Previously, an investigation was launched by local officials on the restaurant, which advertised itself as the "restaurant of hunks" and presented muscular male performers in skimpy clothing dancing with heavy sexual innuendo.
The investigation found the performances were harmful to social ethics and violated the Regulations on the Administration of Commercial Performances. The restaurant was ordered to stop the performances and the aforementioned punishments were leveled.
