Instructor at Hunan shooting club fatally shot
A man died after he was accidentally shot while instructing a client at a shooting club in Yueyang, Hunan province, local police reported on Wednesday.
According to a notice released by the Yueyanglou branch of the Yueyang police department, the client, surnamed Liu, visited the club for a shooting experience on Saturday with three others. While a club employee surnamed Du was offering Liu instructions, the gun accidentally went off and the bullet struck Du.
Club workers promptly sent Du to a hospital for emergency treatment, but he died on Monday, it said.
Liu has been criminally detained by the bureau on suspicion of committing negligent homicide, the police said. A person surnamed Li, a legal representative of the club, has also been criminally detained on suspicion of causing a serious accident due to negligence. Further investigation of the incident is underway.
The club obtained an operations license in November 2019 and officially opened for business on May 1,2021, police said.
