Statistics released on internal discipline and inspection governance

A total of 2,482 officials from discipline inspection and supervision departments at different levels were investigated in the first half of 2023, the country's top anti-graft authorities said on Monday.
More than 1,600 officials were punished and 73 were transferred to judicial organs for further investigation, according to a statement issued by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission.
Among the punished officials, 54 were at the departmental level and 285 were at the county or division level.
The anti-graft authorities across the country handled some 18,700 tips related to officials from discipline inspection and supervision departments and carried out cautionary talks and oral or written inquiries 6,647 times.
The commissions said the discipline inspection and supervision departments have always adhered to the strict governance of the Party and intensified efforts to fight lax Party governance to weed out "black sheep".
Additionally, about 11,300 officials from discipline inspection and supervision departments who committed minor misconduct were criticized by the Party organization and 123 people were placed under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation in the first half of the year.
